Travel to Tignes les Brévières by Road

For your ski holiday in Tignes les Brévières travelling by road from the UK involves either ferry crossings or using Eurotunnel.

Tignes Les Brévières is approximately 600 miles/10 hours from the channel ports and all but the last 12 miles is motorway. As you depart from Calais, follow the signs to Reims, Troyes, Dijon, Lyon, Chambery, Albertville, Moutiers, Bourg St. Maurice, Tignes and finally Tignes Les Brévières.

If you plan to stop overnight, try to reach Albertville or at least Lyon, otherwise you will still have a long journey on the second day. These two towns offer a selection of motels for your overnight stay. Remember to book these in advance as they become very busy during the season.

Driving in France is much less hassle and more fun than in the UK as their motorways are less crowded. However, be very careful on the last section of your journey from Albertville into Moutiers, as the traffic police are there nearly every weekend with on the spot speeding fines.

Snow chains may be needed in the mountains. These are not expensive and can be purchased at the large supermarkets in the valley. They are provided with rental cars on request.

Take care if using a Sat Nav when travelling to Tignes les Brévières from Geneva. Program the route via Annecy and Albertville, otherwise you may be directed through mountain passes that are only open during the summer.
