TignesHoliday 20th January 2009
Hi Steve!
I hope you are enjoying the ski season this year. I hear the snow is even more fabulous now. I am sure that you are really busy running the chalet, but hopefully you get the chance to get out on the slopes once in a while!!
As promised, here is a review of the Chalet Bonjour Bonjour based on our stay this past January.
General
Let us start by saying that this was probably the best family vacation that we've ever taken, and we've skied in quite a few places. The mountain area is fabulous with amazing variety for any level skier. However, what I think made our vacation so special is the accommodations and service in your chalet.
Staff
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to provide bath robes, movies for the kids, and special changes in the dinner menu to accommodate dietary needs. My kids loved just hanging out with Danny (boy!) after he finished his work in the evenings and watching him prepare the shopping lists in the mornings.
Room
Very clean, with pleasant rustic décor. There were plenty of blankets and pillows and the room was cleaned regularly. Plenty of space, hooks for ski clothes, and hangers in closets.
Central Area / Dining Room
Always a welcoming place. My boys loved playing the Wii and we enjoyed relaxing after skiing and before dinner. We had such a good time socializing in the chalet that we never felt the need to go out to pubs, restaurants, etc.
Food
Absolutely amazing dinners! The quality and presentation of the food is the best I've ever seen in a chalet. In fact, our worst meal was on the staff's day off! There was plenty of variety and the meals were healthful and not at all the typical ski food of pasta and sauce. We loved the wine too and got spoiled by the dessert! The breakfasts were fairly basic, but completely fine. It would have been nice to have hard-boiled eggs everyday (so easy to keep on hand) and maybe have the hot portion of the breakfast be more self-serve rather than having orders taken - makes it quicker for guests to get to the slopes. The afternoon tea was a welcome treat after a day of skiing. My boys loved the chocolate cake!
Ski School
A bit of a disappointment, since we are used to sending our kids to ski school for all day, with lunch. This option was not available in Le Brevieres. However, it worked out well in the end, because we really enjoyed skiing with the kids.
Ski Hosting
A great idea, especially for those who prefer skiing in a group and who would like to explore the mountain with a guide. It is important though that the guides make sure that the group stays together, give clear directions, and make more frequent stops to make sure that everyone can follow.
Hot Tub
Perfect after a day of skiing. The convenience of having it on the premises is the best. We used it every day.
Ski Storage
Conveniently located, easy access, sufficient space, the boot warmers are definitely a plus.
Website
Easy to find via Yahoo and Google, informative, easy to navigate, fast; could use more pictures, and a map of the slopes.
Reservation
Very friendly and efficient process, timely and clear communication, quick and informative responses to questions, and willingness to work with the customer to accommodate special requests and preferences. Ski rent discount and the ability to pre-order the lift tickets was an added bonus.
We would definitely like to come back next year. In fact, we are thinking about spending two weeks in your chalet - the week of New Years 2010 and the following week. Pencil us in. We would also like to follow your recommendation and explore the possibility for the racing camp for the kids during that time.
